WP members, if you would like to take these wonderful traveling chickens with you on your next trip, complete the reservation form located in the clubhouse. While on your trip, take a photo of the couple with something in the background (sign, famous landmark, etc.) to indicate where the photo was taken. JULY 4TH WEEKEND CELEBRATION!
CARDBOARD BOAT RACE HAS THRILLING CONTROVERSIAL FINISH
Ship "W" narrowly defeated Ship "B" in the annual cardboard boat race held Saturday at Whispering Pines Nudist Resort. Ship W started off strongly and dominated the first half of the race. However, the Ship B captain, despite suffering a devastating gruesome injury prior to the race, showed resolve and newfound determination during the last half of the contest. This provided for a close, down to the wire finish and officials had to consult the official photo to confirm the actual winner. (click here to see offical photo finish)
Ship W had a substantial lead early on but appeared to become somewhat complacent as Ship B had turning difficulties at the midpoint of the race, which included a brief stop to empty his cardboard vessel of accumulated water. Ship B shook off these difficulties and made the race a close one, causing the throng of WP spectators to rise to their feet and cheer loudly.
After the race, there were allegations of cheating and sabotage. At one point a contestant accused another of puncturing his boat, while there were cross complaints of a contestant utilizing an illegal form of propulsion (human propeller). The investigating commission determined these complaints and allegations were unfounded, and Ship W was declared the official winner.
Congratulations to both Captain W and Captain B and all their helpers (legal and illegal) for their efforts!
